GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR USE OF

BROOKFIELD TOWNSHIP COMMUNITY EVENTS SIGN

Effective November 13, 2018

The purpose of these guidelines is to establish uniform and equitable parameters for community use of the Brookfield Township Events Sign.

Requests to have an event or message placed on the sign will be made with the Township Office Coordinator or other authorized user designated by the Township Trustees. Township Trustees reserve the right to refuse the placement of an event or message on the sign to any group whose purpose is not conducive to the best interest and welfare of the community.

REQUESTS: Requests must be made a minimum of 48 hours in advance of the event. Requests can be made by calling the Administration building Monday thru Friday from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm at 330-448-4500, by emailing brookfieldtwp@gmail.com or through the Facebook page “Brookfield Township Community Events Signs”. A request made via electronic communications does not guarantee it will be placed on the sign unless the request has been acknowledged by the Township Office Coordinator.

The event / message will start no more than 5-7 days before the event and will stop at the end of the event or at midnight of that day. Background color or animation requests will be considered but the final decision of background or animation will be made by the Office Coordinator or Township Trustees.

WHO MAY REQUESTS EVENTS / MESSAGES: Any church, school, or community organization that is within Brookfield Township, which includes Masury, may make a request. The request must be made by an active member of the requesting organization (i.e. Pastor, secretary, president); the organization’s name, contact person and information must be given at the time of the request. Brookfield Township Trustees reserve the right to verify all information. The event must take place in Brookfield or Masury or support an organization within Brookfield Township (i.e. championship games for school sports). Flyers advertising the event are welcomed and would be placed on the Facebook page.

NOT ALLOWED ON THE SIGN: No political campaign propaganda, an exception would be made for informational meetings only. No birthday, engagement, anniversary, birth announcement, etc. requests; exception will be made for any Brookfield or Masury resident celebrating 100 years of age or older.

The Brookfield Township Community Event sign is designed to accommodate multiple messages. Each message will run approximately 6 seconds. The standard “Welcome to Brookfield”, along with date, time and temperature will always be on the sign. No one may request that only their message runs on the sign. The only time a single message will run will be as follows: Holiday message (i.e. Christmas, Thanksgiving, Halloween, etc.). A local emergency situation, by order of the chief of police, fire chief or their designee will supersede all messages.
